I'm Eli from Eli's World

Eli's imagination is growing. It's fun to see him play out things that he thinks of. Last week he kept lying down at the bottom step and saying, 'Oh no, I fell down. What happened?" Then he'd wait for us to come, rescue him and carry him to the couch. Lately we overhear him playing with his toy cars who have conversations with each other. He sometimes feeds them apples or other snacks.

He even has cars that represent the whole family. Daddy is a red `92 Ford Mustang. Mommy is yellow Dodge Challenger concept car. Eli is a super cool white Drifter sports car and Evan is an old looking gold 1960 Citroen DS.

Evan Ransom- God is Gracious Redeemer

On Tuesday morning Sarah started feeling some contractions.. so we snapped one last prego picture and waited.Well we didn't head to the hospital till about 230am. We got a room but the nurses said the place was pretty full (it was a full moon) and they kept saying that there was "no more room at the inn."

On Wednesday, July 28 at 11:27am baby Evan was born. Sarah did really well though this was a more painful labor for her. Evan was 7lbs 11oz and 21 inches long. Evan is the Welsh form of John which means, "God is gracious." John is a popular family name so we wanted to use it but vary it a little. His middle name, Ransom has a latin origin which means, one who sets free or redeemer. Ransom is also a character in one of C.S. Lewis' books whom he patterned after a good friend, J.R. Tolkien. So Evan Ransom means "God is gracious redeemer" and we pray that he is one who will remind those around them of this truth.

Evan has been a joy. His older brother loves him and pays a lot of attention to him. Maybe a little too much since he keeps giving him cars, blankets and wanting to hold him. Evan spends a lot of time sleeping right now which kinda balances out Eli's energy. We are tired but looking forward to this new adventure of two kids.
